The industrial sector is making a great effort to evolve into Industry 4.0, by dedicating not only economic but also human resources to maintain and build its competitive edge. The impact in the Basque Country is huge, bearing in mind that this strong infrastructure and development makes up 24% of the community's GDP.
Cybersecurity in industry is one of the core themes of
the 13th edition of the BIEMH, the International Machine Tool Exhibition, the
most important industrial event in the country which brings together companies
from across the world. The event will be held from the 28th May to the 1st June
in the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, and hopes to beat its own record, not only for
the numbers of visitors and exhibitors filling the exhibition halls, but also
for the innovation on show.
The BIEMH will highlight the need for companies to
understand that when they invest in process automation, Big Data or cloud-based
services, they must also implement cybersecurity measures to avoid the threat
of a cyberattack curtailing the future of their business.
Cybersecurity, the beDIGITAL debate
As part of the beDIGITAL programme, the new event at
this year's BIEMH dedicated to digital transformation, there will be a Round
Table on cybersecurity, chaired by Javier Diéguez, the director of the BCSC. Specialist
guests on the Round Table include David Marco (an expert in industrial
cybersecurity from the CCI), Ana Ayerbe (director of the IT Competitiveness business area in
Tecnalia) and Alexis Alonso Arévalo (Senior Manager in Accenture).
Big Data, IoT and virtual reality -
other themes at this year's BIEMH
This biannual event, which gathered over 1,500 companies
in 2016, mainly from abroad, will also have as its core themes the
Digitalization of Processes, Additive
Manufacturing, Big Data, IoT, Cloud Services, Virtual Reality and their
application in manufacturing.
This unmissable event for the industrial sector is in
sync with state-backed initiatives promoted by the Basque Government, such as
the Basque Digital
Innovation Hub, the RIS3 or Basque Industry 4.0. The Call for Speakers
for the 2018 Basque Industry 4.0 conference is open till the 15th June.
At the Basque
Centre for Cybersecurity we continue working to support and collaborate with
these and other initiatives which contribute to the competitive development of
industry in the Basque Country, and always hand in hand with Cybersecurity.
