207 businesses have benefited from the 2019 edition of the industrial cybersecurity programme of grants

In May 2019 the Basque Government opened a new edition of the industrial cybersecurity programme of grants with the aid of the BCSC and Grupo SPRI. The aim was to help raise the level of protection in companies based in the Basque Country, and thereby help this improved level of cybersecurity to give these companies a competitive edge. The first edition of the programme in 2018, the first of its kind in the whole of Spain, was so successful, and was in such demand, that the initial 600,000€ earmarked for the project was eventually raised to 1 million Euros, in order to cater for the massive number of applicants.

IT-SA, europe's largest cybersecurity fair to include basque representatives

Nowadays, it-sa is the largest cybersecurity fair in Europe, and probably one of the most important world-wide. The event, celebrated since 2009 in the German city of Nuremberg, gathers over 700 exhibitors from 27 countries, and a great number of visitors - the 2018 edition drew over 14,000. All aspects of cybersecurity are covered, including cloud-storage technology, data processing and internet security. The fair caters principally for cybersecurity professionals from public administration, and developers and suppliers of cybersecurity goods and services. This year, the fair will be held from the 8th to the 10th of October in the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre.

The BCSC takes part in the CSIT 9th Annual World Cyber Security Summit

On the 8th and 9th of May, the CSIT 9th Annual World Cyber Security Summit in Belfast. The singular feature of this summit is the fact that it unites the international research community, leaders of industry, creators of government policy and new companies and small and middle-size businesses from around the world under one roof.

The important role regions play in creating a safer society

At present we rely heavily on the technological know-how of places like the United States and Israel. In order to reduce this dependence and grow our own skills, the European authorities have recently been developing cooperation policies with suppliers, industry, centres for technological development and experts in the field.

The Basque cybersecurity ecosystem shows its potential at the San Francisco RSA Conference (USA)

The Basque cybersecurity ecosystem has demonstrated its potential at the RSA Conference, one of the most internationally important cybersecurity events, held in San Francisco (USA) from the 4th to the 8th of March. During the event the Centro Vasco de Ciberseguridad-Basque Cybersecurity Centre (BCSC), in collaboration with several Basque cybersecurity companies, organised a seminar to showcase the potential of the Basque cybersecurity ecosystem, accompanied by the minister for Economic Development and Infrastructures, Arantxa Tapia.
