BCSC shares experiences and solutions with leading experts in cybersecurity in the TF-CSIRT and FIRST forum

04/02/2018

With the aim of sharing information about vulnerabilities, incidents, tools and other key elements in response to incidents affecting internet security, internationally renown experts met from the 4th to the 7th February for the "TF-CSIRT meeting & FIRST Regional Symposium Europe" in Hamburg.

The Basque Cybersecurity Centre (BCSC) was present at the meeting, represented by Asier Martínez Retenaga, Head of CSIRT Services, who shared experiences with the 220 representatives of incident response teams from all over the world. The symposium saw the Basque Country taking steps to build bridges with the international community, establishing collaboration mechanisms with other incident response centres. Among the benchmark teams at the meeting were the CERTSI (CERT for Security and Industry operated by INCIBE, the Spanish National Institute for Cybersecurity), the CERT from Siemens, the CIRCL (the Belgian state CERT), the American Team Cymru, the European Police Force Europol, the Shadowserver foundation and various state-owned and private Spanish CSIRTs and CERTs.

To this end, the BCSC is developing an exhaustive project at several levels, focused on obtaining FIRST membership, an approval certificate which grants priority access to information on incidents, specific tools and, most importantly, collaboration in the most important global forum on computer incident response teams.

Since it was set up last October, the Basque Cybersecurity Centre (BCSC) has worked in constant and fluid collaboration with other state-run and private Cybersecurity Centres in different countries. The TF-CSIRT and FIRST forum is not the first international event we have attended: the Centre's director, Javier Diéguez, was present at the International Congress on Cybersecurity ENISE, in León, the FIRST event held in Las Vegas and the S4 event celebrated in Miami - the latter being the principal international reference in Industrial Cybersecurity.
